Finishes Explained: Beam Saw vs Laser Cut

Every acrylic sheet on our site comes in a choice of two finishes. Here's what each one means so that you can pick the right one without any guesswork.

Beam Saw

Cut using a precision saw blade, giving a clean, straight edge. It's a solid, reliable choice for most projects, especially when the edge won't be on show.

Best for: shelving, backing boards, panels and general DIY work.

Laser Cut

Cut using a laser for a smooth, glass-like edge with a subtle shine. It gives a more refined finish, ideal when the edge itself will be seen.

Best for: display pieces, signage, picture framing and glazing.

Not sure which one to pick? As a simple rule, go for Laser Cut when the edge will be visible, and Beam Saw when it won't. Either way, you'll get a sheet that's cut accurately and finished to a high standard.

Popular Uses Of Our Sheets

Not sure exactly what you need yet? Here are some of the most common ways our customers use our sheets, across the home, workplace and retail space.

  • Glazing: A lightweight, safer alternative to glass for windows, doors and cabinets.
  • Splashbacks: Easy to wipe clean and a great fit for kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Shelving: Strong enough to hold everyday items while keeping a light, modern look.
  • Display and Retail Units: Clear, sturdy panels for shop fittings, counters and product displays.
  • Signage: A smooth surface that takes lettering and graphics well, indoors or out.
  • Protective Screens: Durable barriers for counters, workstations and public spaces.
  • Picture Framing: A lightweight, shatter-resistant option for glazing photos and artwork.

Quality material, precise cutting, and a team that's actually there to help. That's what you can expect when you send a requirement to Grand Home Decore.

Workshop equipment used for precision sheet cutting

Our Workshop & Precision Cutting

Every sheet we sell is cut right here, in our own workshop. Nothing is outsourced, so we keep full control over accuracy and quality from start to finish.

We use industrial beam saws for strong, straight cuts, and precision laser cutters for smooth, detailed edges. Between the two, we can handle everything from simple straight cuts to more detailed shapes, all cut to the exact size you confirm.

Before any sheet leaves our workshop, it goes through a proper quality check. We look at:

  • Accurate dimensions, checked against your confirmed specification
  • Clean, smooth edges with no rough spots
  • No scratches, marks or surface damage
  • Correct thickness and material

Only once a sheet passes this check does it get packaged and sent out. It's a simple process, but it's exactly why every sheet you receive is cut right, every time.
